How to rinse out your nose in the shower
During hay fever season mucous tends to accumulate in the nasal cavity above your mouth causing discomfort in breathing. This is hard to rinse out with water when you wash your face. A saline wash is on sale in the pharmacy for this. It is much cheaper just to rinse out your nose when you take a shower.
If you tilt your head and direct your nose toward the water, water will not enter your nose because the air trapped in your nose keep the water out. To let water flow into your nose through to the mouth you must keep your mouth open so there is no air pressure to keep the water from entering your nose. To rinse the inner part of the nasal cavity where mucous will accumulate you must tilt your nose toward the shower of water and keep your mouth open while blowing air out through your mouth to keep water from entering your wind pipe. You must not tilt your mouth too high because this space also drain into your ear canal. You must not let water into your ear canal or you will have ear infection.
If you never rinse out your nose like this, it will feel strange the first time. When you get used to it, you will be able to rinse out the mucous trapped in the nasal cavity above your mouth and you will breathe much more freely.
